A fourth-year student of the biology department at the St. Petersburg Naval Academy, named Desharow, caught a mysterious black-scaled mermaid in the waters near Iceland while on a research expedition with his mentor, Rhein. The powerful and beautiful creature immediately captivated Desharow, who was obsessed with his academic research, not realizing that he had already become the prey of the mermaid.
