I read the novel, and no, he isn’t going to betray him. He goes on to sell fake info to the brother. I believe after a time skip, the reader is told that the MC has told the ML about this deal, off screen anyways. So ML is made aware.
When I first read this bit in the novel, I for sure thought this would bite him in the butt later or cause drama, but nope. He’s just scamming the brother and ML is later made aware of it down the road
