Desire Me If You Can [Novel] - Chapter 2
Leaving the fortune teller tilting her head in confusion, Grayson pulled his wallet from his jacket’s inner pocket. He took out several one hundred dollar bills and placed them on the table before asking his final question.
“Is there anything else you can tell me?”
The fortune teller replied with a practiced smile.
“That’s all for today.”
He’d expected as much. This time, too, it was useless. Thinking that he had wasted his time again, Grayson didn’t ask any further questions, turned around, and left the shop.
After the enormously tall man, over two meters, disappeared, the fortune teller, left alone in the small space, pulled a card from the deck. However, the card she drew depicted a tower being struck by lightning. Seeing it, she let out a trembling sigh and shook her head.
“Something terrible is going to happen soon…”
Muttering to herself, she quickly looked around. For some reason, the air felt chillingly still. The fortune teller hurriedly rubbed her arms, which had broken out in goosebumps, and jumped up from her seat. Just then, a customer entered the shop, but she waved her hand and quickly said,
“I’m closed for today, please leave.”
“Uh… then I’ll come back tomorrow…”
The bewildered customer stammered, but the fortune teller immediately shook her head.
“Oh, no. Tomorrow won’t work either. I’m not doing business here anymore.”
“What? Not anymore? Wait, hold on. Hold on…”
After practically chasing the surprised customer out, the fortune teller hurriedly began to pack her belongings.
I need to get out of here, far, far away.
As she was frantically tidying up her place, a card slipped from her hand and fell to the floor. Just as she quickly bent down to pick it up, the fortune teller screamed, “Eek!”
The card that had fallen this time was ‘The Devil.’
Holding the card with trembling hands, she stared at the image and muttered repeatedly,
“Ominous… Very ominous.”
As if to warn of a chilling future, lightning struck the clear sky with perfect timing, followed by an ominous rumble of thunder.
Part 1: Here Comes The Dog
1
As always, as the night deepened, the sounds of clinking glasses, low music, and scattered, excited breaths filled the space. And at some point, the people at the party started to pair off one by one and disappear. It was a natural consequence, given the purpose of the party.
Extreme Alphas needed to regularly release their pheromones; otherwise, their brains would begin to malfunction. In mild cases, they would suffer memory loss, while in severe cases, they could experience brain damage or even lose their sanity. Because of this, they constantly sought out partners for s3x, and it was common for them to take turns hosting parties for that shared purpose.
Once again, at this party, gathered for the purpose of pheromone release, Grayson sat at the bar table, drinking whiskey laced with drugs. As the ice melted, droplets formed along the rim of his glass, and his fingertips lazily traced circles around it. On either side of him sat twin Omega brothers with identical faces, both openly displaying their interest in him.
“Having to work every day is both a joy and a sorrow.”
At Grayson’s murmured words, accompanied by a sigh, the man sitting on his right blinked in confusion. The man on the left, with whom he had been drinking, spoke up affably.
“What, Grayson? Don’t tell me you’re suddenly feeling like ‘working’?”
He emphasized the word “working” and wiggled the index and middle fingers of both hands. The other man who had been hesitant then cautiously chimed in,
“No way, that’s ridiculous. You’re not going to say something as boring as you’re tired of playing around, are you?”
“Yeah, as if Grayson Miller would ever say that. Right?”
The twins sitting on either side of him at the bar exchanged words freely, gauging Grayson’s expression. Grayson chuckled briefly and said dramatically,
“Come on, I don’t just play around. I do ‘work’ sometimes, you know.”
It was true to some extent. There probably wasn’t another Extreme Alpha who had held as many jobs as Grayson. When he was attracted to someone, he often imitated the work they did. There were even quite a few instances where he uncovered unexpected talents or natural aptitude in the process, but in the end, it was never truly ‘work.’ At most, it was imitation, so technically speaking, he had never held a real job in his life.
The problem was that his so-called dedication vanished instantly as soon as his feelings for the other person cooled. Grayson, without an ounce of consideration for others, would quit or disappear as he pleased, leaving his former lovers to suffer the consequences of his actions and the blame for his sudden absence, unable to even contact him.
His notorious behavior were widely known, yet there were always new victims. This was because among the many talents this man possessed, Grayson was particularly skilled at “acting in love.” Even those who were wary of his reputation, having heard the rumors, couldn’t resist him for more than three days. Grayson, as if reading their minds, said the words they wanted to hear and granted whatever they desired. As if he would even give his life for them, truly.
Because of this, they all inevitably thought, “This time, he must be serious,” or “He’s different with me.” It was, as always, just an illusion. By the time they realized this, they had already been cruelly abandoned.
(You weren’t my destiny, goodbye.)
…Along with those parting words like a joke. So many people whispered, “Grayson Miller only enjoys pretending to be in love.” Otherwise, how could he turn so cold towards someone he had supposedly loved so much? It’s not like he has a button that can turn his emotions on and off at will. However, some argued that Grayson did fall in love. It’s just that it’s for a very short time.
Whether it’s an illusion or the truth, the result was the same. Grayson makes someone fall head over heels for him completely and then leaves as he pleases. Without any concern for how devastated the person he leaves behind becomes. It was, literally, “none of his business.”
“Did you find someone new, a new destiny?”
The man on the right asked with a laugh. He spoke in a mocking tone, as if talking about a pet dog attempting to mate with another dog at the park. Not to be outdone, the twin on the other side also touched Grayson’s body and asked,
“So, what kind of work are you doing this time? If it’s something fitting for Grayson… maybe the service industry?”
He fluttered his lashes suggestively as he gazed up at Grayson. As if unwilling to be left out, the other twin, seated on the opposite side as he leaned in, slid his hand over and caressed Grayson’s thigh. More precisely, his fingers fondled the thick pen!s resting on top of it.
Finding the touch rather agreeable, Grayson let a faint smile curl his lips. Their hands, one stroking his arm and the other trailing along his thigh, were blatantly suggestive, but Grayson let them be, as if it were
natural, and opened his uth.
“I’ll have to look for it, now.”
At his words, one of the twins asked,
“How about a job with a uniform? Sexy, right?”
“Like a police officer?”
The other twin immediately picked up the conversation and stroked the thick er3ct!on jutting from Grayson’s thigh. How thrilling would it be to have this inside him? The anticipation already made his lower body twitch, and words of flattery tumbled out naturally.
“With a big gun like this.”
At those words, Grayson snickered.
“Should I, then?”
It was just a simple response, but surprised gasps erupted from both sides. Even the bartenders inside,
who were making cocktails, widened their eyes and stared at them. Casually glancing at the bartenders, who hurriedly averted their gazes and returned to their work, Grayson answered leisurely,
“It’s a fine profession.”
“Grayson as a police officer…?”
“Yes, yes! Cool, it suits you. I like police officers. So sexy.”
Unlike the flustered twin, the other was quick to flatter him. The first twin then hurriedly added,
“Of course it suits you. I just never thought you’d actually do it. Grayson, will you arrest me first? Officer, should I lie down on the hood of the car?”
