His physique from horseback riding was slender and agile, and his hands were a bit larger than average. Because he rode horses every day, he often came in riding clothes. He wore tight white riding pants and black boots, a shirt with the collar undone, and carried a leather riding crop. I especially disliked that crop. Jerome would often playfully lift Hugh’s chin with the leather loop at the end of the crop, which I found very uncomfortable.
